J.R. Martin and Associates is a Certified Public Accounting firm located in beautiful Redding in Northern California. We are intentionally a family-friendly business and highly value relationships. We are looking to add a full-time CPA to our growing accounting firm. We are an innovative and technology driven firm. This is not a remote position; candidate must be in the Redding, CA area, or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance will be considered for the right candidate.
This position will be a leader in the tax area and will be facilitating all areas of client packages including bookkeeping review, accounting assistance, and software training and system development. Our ideal candidate is a CPA with strong relational skills and a passion for helping businesses thrive by providing advice regarding tax strategy and tax planning, as well as helping them understand their financial position and thrive as business owners. Requirements:
We are looking for a candidate with 5 years’ experience in a tax manager or public accountant role. The candidate has a current CPA license.
Qualifications:
- Current on business and individual tax law and requirements.
- Able to effectively and personably client facilitate.
- Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
- Experience with business tax return reviews.
- Manage and facilitate all IRS income tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules, etc.
- Proficient in software system design.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments and strategize on capitalizing on changes.
- Experience with tax planning is not required but would be highly valued.
- Experience in individual and small-to-medium business tax.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills.
- Excellent supervisory skills.
- Prepare tax planning projections and benchmarking reports.
- Review 1040’s and entity tax returns prepared by staff accountants.
- Prepare high level 1040’s and entity tax returns.
- Use excellent time management and communication skills to ensure the team’s success.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, QuickBooks, and UltraTax.
- Return client phone calls within 24 hours, whenever possible.
- Serve each client so well they never want to leave, and they refer others – create raving fans!
- Commit to doing your part to keep the team healthy by growing in your communication, time management, and technical skills.
- Identify opportunities for improvements in quality or efficiency of procedures, ensuring automation whenever possible.
