J-Star Motion is seeking an on-site HR leader who has an “employee-centric” mindset for its Cedar Springs manufacturing and distribution facility. This skilled HR professional will have well-rounded experiences across the HR disciplines where the focus is on building strong relationships, simplified processes, and a safe, fun and energizing culture. Requirements
Required Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred or at least 5 years’ experience in an HR related role with at least 3 years supervising an HR function is required. Experience supporting various facets of Human Resources with a minimum of 3 years required. Experience leading HR related functions, committees, processes or people strongly preferred. Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) strongly preferred.
Desired Competencies
HR Knowledge and Expertise: Understanding HR principles, policies, and practices is fundamental including legal and compliance issues, employee relations, recruitment and selection, onboarding and offboarding, safety and health, HR policy and process, benefits, payroll, etc.
Communication, follow up, and Confidentiality Skills: Effective verbal and written communication is critical to handle questions and concerns (in a timely manner) and to appropriately disseminate information while using empathy and interpersonal skills. Skill to communicate at all levels while building strong relationships, and positive impressions. The ability to hold and maintain confidentiality, assuring those who should be informed are and those that don’t have a legitimate business need to have confidential information, do not.
People First: Our focus is to maintain superior service to our customers, the employees. This includes being welcoming, responsive, helpful, fun, and engaging and interacting daily with associates throughout the manufacturing facility. HR leads the culture of the workplace by providing an environment where employees feel genuinely cared for.
Administrative Expertise: Despite technological advances, administrative tasks remain significant in HR. These include managing employee leave, payroll, benefits and other HR processes. Understanding and operating withing Microsoft 365 is required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) as well as having a strong aptitude for navigating and learning other software, apps, or technologies. The ability to be organized, follow up and follow through and manage projects is required.
Managing Priorities: Prioritizing and re-prioritizing multiple tasks to assure critical matters receive timely attention and managing time to assure all actions and activities with deadlines are completed with quality when expected. This includes the ability to be proactive and anticipate needs and timing that will allow challenges to be addressed before they escalate.
Advising and Coaching: Provides guidance to the HR team, leaders, and others on HR matters such as performance management and documentation, conflict resolution, and career development. Supports employee growth and development through coaching and mentoring.
