Summary:

Essential Functions:
To perform the role of an Associate successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Prepare federal and state tax filings (partnerships, S-Corp, trusts, individuals, etc.)
Post entries to general ledger
Tax research and memorandums
Perform services relating to financial statement compilation
Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records and workpapers
Obtain a minimum of 40 credits of CPE each calendar year or meet the Texas State Board requirements
Participate in firm and departmental initiatives (e.g., recruiting efforts, client development/service line expansion, etc.)
Assist with administrative functions as needed
Supervised client interaction and responsibility
Regular and timely attendance
Requirements
Required Competencies:

Subject Matter Expert - Demonstrates understanding of subject matter, seeks to increase knowledge in subject matter (industry, code and regulations, etc)
Technical Skills - Thorough understanding of business and individual tax return concepts (payroll, depreciation, accrual to cash, etc), thorough understanding of financial statement concepts (adjusting journal entries, bank recs, retained earnings, etc)
Communication Skills - Communicates clearly with clients and JTaylor personnel
Problem Solving - Demonstrates critical thinking skills, creativity in thought, addresses questions with a concise answer
Cultivation of Relationships - Seeks to develop and strengthen client relationships, develops and strengthens internal relationships
Intuition - Demonstrates the ability to provide quick and ready insight, leverages previous experience and education to answer questions
Initiative - Is a self-starter, actively looks for additional work, can function independently as appropriate
Self-Awareness - Mindful of their own strengths and weaknesses and how to best utilize these in a team environment
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Accounting
GPA of 3.0 or higher
0 – 2 years of work experience
Written plan of completion of CPA if candidate is not already eligible
Knowledge of accounting and tax theory
Current and valid driver’s license
Ability to establish priorities and perform work in a timely manner
Effective oral and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or CPA eligible
Advanced level tax and accounting courses
Work Environment:
This job operates in an office setting with the potential for remote work in accordance with the company’s telecommuting policy. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Position Type:
This is a full-time position. Our standard business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additional hours and weekend hours will be required during peak busy seasons.
Travel:
Travel may be required on occasion. Same-day travel for work at client’s offices, meetings, and seminars which requires use of a personal vehicle. Occasional out-of-town travel with overnight stay for work at clients, meeting, or seminars.
