Job Overview:

The Customer’s office is responsible for building and operating a hybrid-cloud mission infrastructure and services, hosting dozens of Commercial off the shelf (COTS), customer-developed, and custom applications, as well as a large data lake.  The system has on-premises components deployed at multiple data centers, as well as commercial cloud resources.  

The position will work in a 24 hour, 7 day a week environment providing in-depth Tier 2 and Tier 3 level support and problem resolution for technology products and applications.  The Customer requires contractor support with a diverse background and strong organizational skills to facilitate documenting system deployments across the environment, acquisition of hardware and software, and synthesizing information from disparate repositories and personnel.

This position will:

  • Lead and perform engineering efforts in the areas of Windows and Linux servers, workstations, storage, and virtualization.
  • Coordinate engineering projects including performing technical risk assessment, de-conflict implementations, and resolve technical questions or conflicts.
  • Gather performance and utilization metrics from infrastructure components and proactively inform the Customer when thresholds are met.
  • Monitor storage allocation for current and incoming data, working with Customer’s data center management team to scale storage as needed.
  • Effectively communicate on a regular basis within the team and supporting mission partners both internal and external to the Customer organization.
  • Design, implement and maintain an enterprise level storage and backup solution that supports the Customer’s current and future hosting environments.
  • Engineer and implement Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) technology to support enterprise storage array configurations and fiber channel switches.
  • Install, configure, patch, test and troubleshoot for the Customer’s Storage environment.
  • Provide resource management and analysis across networks, storage, and servers in physical and virtual environments.
  • Provide in-depth Tier 2 through Tier 4 level support and problem resolution for technology products and applications.
  • Fully complete assigned work tickets, these may include routine, priority and urgent requests.
  • Prioritize resources, monitor progress, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Provide management oversight on reporting of assigned projects.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team and assist in the areas of technical project management, situational awareness reporting and horizontal integration planning for IT projects.
  • Implement and maintain a repository of documentation and replicate work duties.
  • Facilitate meetings with peers and senior leadership.
  • Document relevant information from meetings and share documentation with peers and senior leadership.
  • Provide Tier 1- 4 support on topics related to infrastructure and applications.
  • Provide support to documenting and tracking tasking’s, operations and maintenance activities, and reporting on projects.

Required skills and demonstrated experience:

  • Demonstrated experience providing operational and technical management of storage environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Dell EMC and NetApp storage solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting resolving operating system, hardware, and software system integration issues.
  • Demonstrated experience forecasting storage needs.
  • Demonstrated experience operating Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) storage environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting cross functional teams to resolve operating system, hardware or network-based issues impacting storage environments.
  • Demonstrated experience writing SQL queries and with Bash and Python scripting.
  • Demonstrated experience performing engineering, implementation, and troubleshooting of VMWare virtualization infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience performing Hypervisor deployments.
  • Demonstrated experience working with vendors on system troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining configuration management standards.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and documenting details at granular level to be used in budget planning and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting infrastructure related projects.
  • Demonstrated experience writing technical papers.

Highly desired, though not required, include:

  • Demonstrated experience working with ServiceNow and SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Tableau.
  • Certifications:
    • Project Management Professional – PMP

Security Clearance:

  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.

Travel:

  • The position will be located within the Washington Metropolitan Area (WMA).
