Job Overview:

The customer requires the services of consultants and technical trainers to teach and provide desk-side technical support of Tableau Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software products to customer personnel. The training is necessary to educate employees on a new enterprise software package that is being deployed across the organization. The Tableau COTS software product transforms databases and spreadsheets with a suite of interactive visualization tools to provide better insight into the data for analysts. This ability to better visualize numeric data, present result sets in dashboards, and share with other employees enables Tableau to fill an important niche in our Data Visualization tool suite. The consultants will assist customer by extending the functionality and allowing for further knowledge of, expansion of, and integration of, Tableau Software.

  • Train customer employees on the use of the Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server COTS products. Training may range from very short overview briefings or demonstrations to more lengthy hands-on classroom or desk-side training.
  • Develop customized curricula based on customer requirements.
  • Follow up with students after class to ensure they begin using the software on the best footing.
  • Prepare and present information to analysts on how to use Tableau to analyze and visualize data.
  • Provide support for individual analysts.
  • Assist analysts with integrating Tableau with other systems and into the analytic workflow.
  • Provide guidance in best practices.
  • Advise on issues related to enterprise use of Tableau.
  • Ensure its personnel stay up-to-date on the latest versions of Tableau software and features as they become available in the customer environment.
  • Explore innovative uses of Tableau that might benefit the customer, such as modifying Tableau capabilities through SQL.

Required skills and demonstrated experience:

  • Demonstrated experience using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server.
  • Demonstrated experience of the Tableau features and ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated experience with relational database schema design and manipulation techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience working with geospatial data.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating tools, such as Tableau, with external systems and data sets.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting others in the use of Tableau software and designing Tableau projects.
  • Demonstrated experience of statistical concepts, methods, and tools.

Highly desired, though not required, include:

  • Demonstrated experience applying Tableau to Sponsor's problem sets.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting analysts using Tableau with non-traditional data sets.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting large organizations with adopting tools, such as Tableau.
  • Certifications:
    • Tableau Desktop 8 Professional

  • This position requires US Citizenship. Verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements will be confirmed.

Security Clearance:

  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.

Travel:

  • The position will be located within the Washington Metropolitan Area (WMA). 
  • Local travel/POV will be on an as needed basis, within the local place of performance
