Part-�me English Teacher
The Jackson Hole Community School is seeking a part-�me English teacher for the 2 023-24
school year who aligns with the school’s m ission and philosophy i n a mountain w est community.
The person filling this role w ill teach 2 sec�ons of o ur ninth grade “Founda�ons in L iterature”
course which seeks t o introduce students to how authors u se g enre(s), t heme(s), w ri�ng style,
a nd c haracter d evelopment to b uild a n arra�ve. E mphasis on effec�ve annota�ng as well as
d eveloping sound arguments while ci�ng contextual evidence are key founda�onal s kills t o
begin i ns�lling at this l evel. Upon c omple�ng this course, each s tudent will be a ble to c onstruct
a thesis-based, analy�cal essay using evidence.
O ur a lumni o�en cite their s trong p repara�on in cri�cal reading, w ri�ng, use of MLA, research,
and p ublic s peaking as v aluable skills t hat t hey developed while at The Community School. As
such, we seek an individual who approaches teaching and learning in a collabora�ve spirit a nd
d esires to work interdisciplinary w ith other faculty m embers to develop strong academic, social,
and emo�onal skill sets and habits of mind.
