What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Procedures/ IR Tech position at Jackson Hospital and Clinic?
The Special Procedure technologist is knowledgeable of all technical aspects of performing special procedures in Radiology. This position requires specialty skills and a good understanding of catheters, wires, stents, and other supplies used in performing exams and the responsibility to maintain established stock levels. Technologist will work closely with Radiologists and nurses to provide high- quality procedures. The technologist will participate in call coverage and float back to Diagnostic Radiology when not performing special procedures as workload dictates
Requirements:
Education: Graduate of an accredited or recognized School of Radiological Technology
Experience: Minimal of two years in special procedures preferred.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: American Registry of Radiological Technologist, registry eligible or registered CV technologist.
Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Special Procedure Digital equipment, pressure injectors, catheters, guidewire, stents, wheelchairs and stretchers, oxygen sources, computers and radiology-related software, laser cameras and printers, pagers, faxes, and telephones.
Specialized Skills: Must demonstrate high proficiency in interventional procedures, must be knowledgeable and have a good understanding of the applications of using stents, catheters, wires and the procedures that requires these items. Must have excellent work habits initiative and leadership necessary to maintain staff and physician respect. Must have excellent verbal and written skills necessary to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, lift greater than 25 pounds, push and pull same limits. Must be able to stoop and bend repeatedly during any given exam. Must demonstrate manual dexterity necessary to manipulate small catheters and guidewires. Must be able to participate in the call schedule. Average visual and auditory acuity required.
