Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or doctorate in statistics or evaluation preferred
  • General knowledge and demonstrated ability in the following areas: Personal computer, skills in using SPSS, spreadsheets and databases
  • Demonstrated ability to design, manage, and utilize large and small data files
  • Ability to describe analytical findings in narrative, tabular, and graphic formats
  • Organizational ability and skill to simultaneously manage multiple components of diverse programs
  • Broad range of educational experience with a minimum of five years administrative experience in the area of research, program evaluation, testing, and student assessment
  • Communication skills including the ability to make oral and written reports to a wide variety of audiences

Job Goal

To direct internal evaluation activities; assist other administrators with special project evaluation; score standardized tests and report results; provide and interpret data in tabular or graphic format to other administrators; provide pupil enrollment and attendance report to local, state, and external sources; coordinate with Information Services the accumulation of pupil achievement data and pupil demographic data; and publish annually school information profiles.

Essential Functions

  • Assembles and publishes annually for each school a summary of demographic information about staff and pupils, including pupil performance on criterion and norm-referenced measures
  • Recommends software and hardware needed for test scoring; controls the preparation of answer documents for scanning; scores tests; prints and delivers reports; archives test data for later retrieval; and, prints special reports as requested
  • Maintains and supervises databases of standardized test results and demographic data; creates, manages, and extracts routine and special reports by school and district. Recommends to other district offices research designs or evaluation techniques and establishes within this office processes for collecting and preparing data for descriptive and/or statistical analysis
  • Selects and performs appropriate techniques for data analysis, synthesis, and presentation
  • Prepares for various internal and external audiences reports that describe special groups and/or assess status or progress of special groups of pupils and staff. These include reports on summer school effectiveness, teacher satisfaction, community surveys, facilities survey, course participation, aggregated and disaggregated distribution of course grades
  • Conducts manual and computer research techniques on school related issues as needed
  • Coordinates the planning and management of evaluation activities with other district offices. Assists other offices with data file management that will allow access for evaluation
  • Identifies resources needed to carry out job responsibilities and manage approved budgets
  • Performs other related duties as requested or assigned
