Champions of hope.Position Purpose : Under limited supervision, the Prevention Specialist promotes community, individual health and well-being through the delivery of prevention strategies and services directed by the state of Iowa and participate as a member of a dedicated team in the delivery of services.
Job Requirements : Bachelor's Degree in education, human services or related field.Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or be certified within 18 months of hire.
Qualifications : Prior experience facilitating groups;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;Public speaking
experience(preferred) ;Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Outlook);Valid driver's license.Essential Responsibilities : Promotes destigmatization of substance use disorders.
Coordinate services with referral sources and other community resources.Understand and demonstrate knowledge of the Strategic Prevention Framework and Public Health Model of prevention.
Design prevention programs to meet the needs of the community and / or special interest groups.Demonstrate an understanding of the disease process of addiction, the core functions of prevention, and apply these appropriately to job duties.
Use and / or develop evaluation tools to measure outcomes for prevention programs.Meet the short-term outcomes and all deliverable expectations as written in the grant.
