Position Summary
The Department of Institutional Research, Planning, and Effectiveness at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Data Analytics & Reporting Director position. This position is hybrid work for Mississippi residents only. The Data Analytics and Reporting Director has a primary responsibility of leading the data analytics and data warehousing, overseeing all activities, and ensuring alignment with the university’s mission. The Data Analytics and Reporting Director will perform statistical analyses on complex institutional data, predictive analytics, and create dashboards that will be used by administrators to make data-informed decisions for the institution, The Data Analytics and Reporting Director will develop a variety of ad hoc reports that will guide departments to make sound, evidence-based decisions. The incumbent will also work on special projects that align to the institution’s strategic plan.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Education
Master’s degree or Doctoral degree (preferred) in data analytics, business, psychology, information management, information systems, computer science, statistics, educational research, or relevant field from an accredited college or university.
Minimum Required Experience
Five (5) or more years of data analytics experience with a proven history of launching successful data and analytics initiatives and drawing insights from data, influencing processes and outcomes.
Five (5) or more years of leading data analytics teams or projects.
Must have excellent quantitative, analytical and technical skills and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience in developing and implementing predictive models, data visualizations, dashboards, data automation, and reporting systems.
Ability to use enterprise data warehouse, big data, business intelligence (BI) & analytics, content management, and data management, data governance, reporting, and organizational analytics.

Qualifications
Five (5) to seven (7) years of proven data analytics and reporting experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
Proven ability to perform complex data analysis.
Strong project management and analytical problem solving skills
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Database Structured Query Languages (SQL) server tools such as Oracle SQL, MySQL, and MS SQL
Data visualization tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, COGNOS, QlikView, and Spotfire
Predictive analytics platforms, software, languages, and libraries such as Azure ML, SAS, SPSS, Oracle Advanced Analytics, and Google Analytics
Programming in one or more of the following languages: Python, R, Java, and C#
Big data platforms such as Teradata, Oracle Data Warehouse
Data Warehousing and ETL processes and tools
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provides data reporting and analysis for institutional administrators and decision-makers.
Completes special projects and ad hoc reports as needed for administrative units.
Guides decision and goals with current, relevant mid realistic data weekly.
Facilitates the establishment and execution of the roadmap and vision for information delivery and management; including the enterprise data warehouse, big data, BI & analytics, content management, and data management.
Engages an end-to-end approach by connecting all the pieces of data to deliver the data while leveraging all available assets.
Provides advice, guidance, direction, and data to carry out major plans and procedures to ensure enrollment, retention and graduation targets are met.
Takes an active role in the performance management process by completing goal setting, interim review, and year-end review on a timely basis and soliciting ongoing feedback.
Collaborates with IT teams to ensure proper technical and privacy/security governance requirements arc met.
Manages data warehousing and Extract, Transform Load (ETL) solutions.
Other duties as assigned.
