Jacobs Space Exploration Group (JSEG) is comprised of 10 companies and is located at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. JSEG has been a primary contractor for NASA since 1989 and supports marquee NASA programs, including the Space Launch System, International Space Station, space optics fabrication, earth and space sciences and advanced propulsion system development. As a partner in NASA’s next generation of space exploration, our jobs are literally history in the making.
Position Description:
The Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer supports the Spacecraft and Vehicle Systems Department in the Aerosciences Branch. The CFD Engineer will be tasked to perform CFD analysis for NASA’s Space Launch System, Human Landing System, and other NASA programs including support to commercial spaceflight companies. The position is application-oriented using existing CFD tools for mesh generation, simulation, and post-processing.
Job Duties include:
· Unstructured, viscous mesh generation of geometrically complex launch vehicles.
· Accurate simulation of launch vehicle external aerodynamic, heating, and plume environments.
· Post-processing of CFD solutions to identify areas of concern, draw conclusions regarding the environments and provide NASA customers with the data they require including documentation of all work.
· Additional duties include but are not limited to:
o Physical model development and implementation,
o Comparison to flight and wind-tunnel data, writing formal technical reports, and
o Presenting results to peers, management teams and customers.
· Participate in a Beyond Zero Safety Culture, attend safety meetings, task meetings, design reviews, and test readiness reviews as requested to support ESSCA and customer requirements.
· Develop and deliver reports and presentations as requested to support ESSCA and customer requirements via Power Point and other various software packages.

Here’s what you’ll need:
· Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering or related field is required. Degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. with a minimum of 3 years of experience; MS with at least 4 years of experience, or a BS with at least 5 years’ experience.
· The following skills are required:
o Experience applying CFD in the aerospace industry is required.
o The ability to perform as part of a highly technical and multi-disciplinary team.
o The ability to communicate professionally with NASA customers and follow guidance in the development of new analysis models.
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
o Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· The following skills are desired:
o Proficiency with object-oriented programming.
o Experience using the ANSA and AFRL3 mesh generation software packages, Loci-CHEM, Loci-Stream, and FUN3D CFD solvers.
