The Jacobs Mountain West Central Environmental Team is looking for a Mid-Level Biologist to join the team. The position will be remotely based with the intent to primarily serve Nebraska-based clients.

This role would support the transportation, rail, water, utility, commercial, and energy sector work by managing the preparation of environmental permits, wetland and stream assessments, biological assessments and evaluations, and mitigation plans, and conducting wildlife habitat surveys, stream surveys and wetland delineations. You may travel to project locations for work, and some office work may be done remotely.

You’ll have the opportunity to work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams guiding environmental planning and permitting efforts for government and privately-owned infrastructure projects. You will provide guidance to staff on wetland identification and delineation using the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Midwest and Great Plains regional supplements, habitat analysis and biological assessment/evaluation report preparation to comply with the Endangered Species Act (ESA), and permit application packages for work with local (city or county), state, or federal agencies.

Based in Omaha, you’ll have the opportunity to perform both field and office work, including field work in Nebraska and adjacent states, coordination of environmental compliance across large projects, focused biological surveys, and project management. You’ll serve as a key team member, building upon your experience and mentoring others. You’ll be challenged as you support multiple projects with a variety of assignments, with a focus on transportation, while also including dynamic energy (pipeline and/or transmission line), water storage, and/or renewable energy projects.

Jacobs’ health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about. Your health. Your well-being. Your security. Your future. Eligible employees and their dependents may elect medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. We have an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for eligible full-time exempt employees, seven paid holidays, one floating holiday, and caregiver leave. Hired applicants will be able to purchase company stock and have the opportunity to receive a performance discretionary bonus.

The base salary range for this position is $81,900 to $143,300. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s what you’ll need:

BA, BS, or MS in Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Ecology, or similar discipline.

Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible work history in biology, water quality, environmental regulations, and Clean Water Act permitting.
