As a Bridge Engineer and vital member of our Oklahoma team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on transportation projects that focus on bridges and other transportation structure designs. You'll perform all aspects of engineering and design for transportation structures such as bridges and retaining walls. Position requires detailed knowledge and experience of bridge project development and application of engineering principles with minimal guidance. You'll also mentor and provide guidance to less experienced engineers and structural task management for production of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates.
Other duties may include estimating project costs, contract negotiations, overseeing and ensuring that project quality, schedule, and budget requirements are met. Key focuses are business development, client presentations, and proposal preparation.
Technical/Functional Responsibilities:
- Assists with the evaluation, development, design, or selection of required structure
- Performs analysis and design calculations for structures
- Calculates estimated quantities and cost estimates for structures
- Provides guidance to CADD technicians for the development of structural design plans
- Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers or EIT’s
- Performs quality control reviews of design plans and calculations
- Reviews fabricator/contractor working drawings
- Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance
- Research design options and documents findings
- Coordinates assignments with project team and supervisor
- May use MicroStation CADD or OpenRoads Designer to perform engineering tasks
- Performs other duties as assigned by project team/supervisor

- Establish understanding of design software, templates, and calculations
- Review your own work before providing to Quality Control review
- Stride to minimize cycles of check-update-recheck
- Adhere to Quality Control Process
- Be proactive
- Document your work in a clean organized fashion
- Calculations are preferred in Mathcad, Excel, or applicable software
- Calculations with multiple sources should be scanned into single .pdf file that includes all information needed to understand the design
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Oklahoma
- Proficient with use of electronic directory structure (save files in appropriate locations)
- Knowledge of and adhere to applicable design codes and guidelines
- Familiar with all bridge plans and standards required in plan set
