Based in Sacramento, California, you’ll have the chance to perform geotechnical engineering design and analysis of foundation systems, retaining structures and slopes for transportation and water infrastructure projects for both public and private clients. Your engineering skills will be developed with design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations including piles and drilled shafts, retaining walls and support of excavation systems. You will prepare and review technical reports, data reports and baseline reports.
You’ll also Participate in field assignments that will include observation of explorations (soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT soundings, geophysical testing); geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and inspection of the construction of geotechnical structures (earth retaining structures, deep foundations, dams, tunnels, and shallow foundations), as well as oversight of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs.

Here’s What You’ll Need:- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering or 2-4 years of experience in geotechnical design
- Flexibility to travel for office and field assignments
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Previous experience in geotechnical evaluations, soil and rock classification, design analysis of foundation and ground retention systems
- Knowledge of and experience with APile, LPile, Shaft, Slide or SlopeW, and Bentley gINT

Typical salary range for this position is $68,800 to $107,500 , and is commensurate with experience relative to the position.
