Your Impact:
Jacobs has partnered with NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) to support space flight programs for more than 40 years. Jacobs provides the core support services for LaRC with the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering (CMOE) contract. The Engineering portion of the contract includes, but not limited to, architectural and engineering studies, architectural and engineering designs, project management, construction, construction management, configuration management, tactical engineering, and planning support. Our engineering office is on the NASA LaRC Campus.
This position works under the guidance and direction of an experienced architect. Candidate must possess the ability to multi-task and work efficiently on more than one project at a time. The Architect will take ownership of completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned. Individuals in this position must also demonstrate the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a multi-discipline technical team.
Responsibilities
- Coordination, development, and production of deliverables in support of the overall scope of Architectural and Engineering projects
- Prepare architectural design drawings in all phases of a project
- Produce architectural and structural details from sketches
- Coordinate design projects with other architects and engineering disciplines
- Provide field investigation and construction administration (contractor submittal reviews) for projects
- Estimating architectural effort for design projects
- Prepare client presentations
- Solve problems by exercising creativity and sound professional judgment
U.S. Citizenship is required. BS degree in appropriate discipline and zero (0) to one (1) years related experience. Must be able to communicate effectively using visual aids and computing technology for problem analysis and solution.
- Current U.S. Driver's License
- Self-motivated personality with the ability to work in a team setting with good collaboration skills
- Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in person and in writing
- Experience in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft office suite
- Working knowledge of architectural codes and standards including ICC and NFPA
- Understanding of building systems and how to produce building construction details is required
- Graphic presentation skills

Work Environment
Office Environment (80%)
Test/Industrial Environment – May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities. (5% ) Travel between facilities and test sites is required. (10%)
Physical Requirements
Must have sufficient mobility to enter into confined spaces, crawl into or onto various assemblies while maintaining a clear vision of safety is required. Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions (10%). Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. (10%)
