At Jacobs, we don’t just lead the development and implementation of environmental remediation and environmental compliance and management solutions, we live it. As a Junior Geologist you’ll work closely in the field and office with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of experienced engineers, geologists, and consulting staff. You’ll support the delivery of environmental remediation, regulatory strategy, compliance, and environmental health and safety projects to achieve each site’s environmental strategy.

Based in Houston, Texas you’ll have the opportunity to participate in soil and groundwater investigation and remediation projects; be a champion and leader for safety; plan field tasks; coordinate with subcontractors, internal support staff, subject matter experts, and client facility stakeholders; and prepare QA/QC and risk management documents.
You will also use your technical skills and experience to troubleshoot existing remediation systems; analyze data; and prepare technical reports. In this role, you’ll be mentored by experienced staff who will help you grow your environmental consulting career at a place like no other.

Here’s What You’ll Need:- Bachelor's degree in Geology or Hydrogeology or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of relative professional work experience within environmental consulting
- Knowledge and experience with various media (e.g., soil, groundwater, waste) investigations and data evaluations
- 40-hr HAZWOPER certification and experience participating in health and safety programs
- Experience working in active industrial facilities and overseeing subcontractors,
- Be physically fit to perform fieldwork and wear a respirator, if required,
- Be able to participate in a random drug testing program, including hair follicle samples
- TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) or ability to obtain and maintain.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
- Knowledge of the principles, practices and methods associated with operating and maintaining remediation systems, or at a minimum, willingness to cross train.
- Certification as a Geologist in Training (GIT) through the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists, with goal of attaining professional licensure
- Experience performing safety hazard analysis and mitigation associated with environmental remediation tasks, and writing safety operating procedures (SOPs).
- Construction oversight experience.
- Familiarity with surface water, stormwater, waste management, sediment, soil vapor or other compliance regulations and sampling methodologies.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and work collaboratively with internal team members and client facility stakeholders
- Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and data management software
