 Mission Statement

Jacobs is seeking a Kubernetes Developer to support the NISSC II contract and the DevSecOps initiative. Your career at Jacobs enables NISSC to fulfill its mission to “provide classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability in organizational work centers at NISSC sites.” As a member of our team, you will support corporate and customer mission to provide world-class IT services and support that connects systems and users across NORAD in the areas of software development/maintenance, network services, cyber security, systems administration, and other mission-critical areas.

 

Job Description

As a Kubernetes Developer, you will work closely with the software development team and platform engineers to enable software developers to continuously deliver value, while ensuring the stability and security of microservices. This includes automation of application containerization via CI/CD pipelines, and orchestration of containers in a Kubernetes environment.

 

Typical Duties Include:

•  
• Works with software development team to build CI/CD pipelines.
• Works with software development team to implement automated containerization.
• Define Kubernetes manifests to deploy and monitor applications in Kubernetes
• Interfaces with platform engineers to ensure deployed containerized applications are secured, elastic, and available.
• Documents and communicates processes and tools.
• Maintains all files and configurations under version control (git).
• Contribute to Agile team ceremonies and planning.
• Mentor junior developers and Kubernetes engineers.

 

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Clearance Requirements:  Current Secret clearance 

Educational Requirements: BS degree in STEM-related discipline and 2 – 4 years of experience, or a combination of education and experience

Certification Requirements:  Must have current DoD 8570 approved cybersecurity certification such as Security or CISSP or obtain within first 60 calendar days of hire.

Experience Requirements:

• •  
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes, including provisioning and application deployment/scaling.
• Experience securing a Kubernetes environment.
• Understanding of application containerization (Docker)
• Experience creating multistage CI/CD pipelines to automate aspects of SDLC, using tools such as Gitlab CI and Bamboo.
• Understanding of microservice architecture.
• Experience with Java project management tools, such as Maven or Gradle.
• Experience with JavaScript / Typescript / React project management tools, such as npm or yarn.
• Experience working within an Agile development team and completing tasks on time.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills

 

Desired Requirements:

• Experience working within a VMware Tanzu Environment, utilizing tools such as TKG and TAP.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience working with Apache Kafka.
• Experience working on CCIC2S applications.
• Experience using Helm to manage Kubernetes resources.

This position is expected to pay $120,000-$140,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

• Work will be performed inside a large facility. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting).
• Work assignments vary based on client requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.

Equipment and Machines

• General office equipment, which includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
• Servers, switches, routers, and other computer equipment that supports the network environment.
• Operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipment.
• May require operating motor vehicles.

Attendance

• Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is mandatory. 

Other Essential Functions

• Employment is contingent upon obtaining all required certifications within the timeframe specified in a waiver by the government (if applicable) and maintaining required certifications through the duration of the contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications will result in disqualification for this position and could result in termination.

Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military, and contractor personnel at all levels. 
• Candidate must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Grooming and dress are usually business casual, but dependent on the client’s standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
