As a Light Equipment Operator-Sanitation, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted.  

Based at the The Villages, FL you’ll have the opportunity to operate small dump trucks, farm type tractors, bush hogs, ditch witches, street sweepers, rubber-tired backhoe and similar pieces of equipment on an assigned shift. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You’ll service equipment with gas, oil, and fluids; make field repairs and adjustments; report needs for minor repairs to mechanics and major repairs to supervisors; operate dump trucks in picking up and delivering materials, debris, and supplies; assist with household refuse collection; and perform other duties as required. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team. 

·       One year of experience operating light construction equipment 

·        A valid driver’s license with no major infractions 

·       Possess a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)  

 

Ideally, You’ll Also Have\: 

·       Two years’ experience in public works 

·       Knowledge of work hazards, safety procedures, and traffic laws relating to equipment operation 

·       Knowledge of the functions, operating methods and care required in the operation of light construction equipment used in public works projects 

·       Knowledge of and skill in the operation and maintenance of light duty construction equipment 

·       Safe work practices

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements\:

Due to the nature of the job passing a Fitness for Duty testing is required to ensure candidates for this position are physically and functionally fit to perform the essential physical work functions of this safety sensitive position without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves or others.  

 

The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals.  The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
