Jacobs is seeking an On-Site Geotechnical Engineer. Project location with be at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.
The On-Site Geotechnical Engineer will provide support to USACE on federal and commercial design-build projects.

Jacobs is seeking an On-Site Geotechnical Engineer. Project location with be at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.
The On-Site Geotechnical Engineer will provide support to USACE on federal and commercial design-build projects.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Perform and oversee geotechnical field explorations, including test borings, rock coring, test pits, cone penetration testing, hand augers, and other methods.
- Perform construction monitoring of earth retaining structures, deep foundations (drilled shafts, piles), and shallow foundations.
- Prepare boring logs and subsurface profiles.
- Design of shallow and deep foundations and earth-retaining structures.
- Perform liquefaction and consolidation settlement analyses.
- Perform Finite Element modeling using PLAXIS and or FLAC.
- Develop geotechnical reports
- Perform Pavement Design and develop Pavement Reports.
- Design Ground Improvement including deep soil mixing, rigid inclusions, and chemical.
- Develop contract documents including drawings and specifications.
- Possess an outgoing and positive attitude, are dependable, and meet all assigned project deadlines.
- Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
Here’s What You’ll Need
- Bachelor's degree in related Engineering discipline is required.
- 5 years of experience on geotechnical projects.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel for work.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills including CADD, and Microsoft Office.
- A driver’s license and reliable vehicle will be required.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) a plus.
- US Citizenship.
