At Jacobs, we have an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Systems Engineer to join our growing Electrical / Systems design group providing public infrastructure governmental clients with technical and professional services related to the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) field.
By joining us, you’ll provide project support in the delivery of technical and analytical services related to electrical and ITS design including field inspection and analysis; technology research, reviews, studies, and alternatives analysis; planning; systems engineering and detailed design; contract documentation preparation (plans, specifications and cost estimates); developing reports and correspondence; and construction management for public infrastructure agencies with a focus on ITS infrastructure facilities. In this role, you will support the Mid-Atlantic Advanced Mobility (AM) Group in the delivery of technical solutions across our transportation clients.
The primary location of this position is our Baltimore, Maryland office, with some flexibility to work from home. Here’s What You’ll Need:• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software or Systems Engineering, Computer Science or a degree in a related technical discipline.
• One (1) – three (3) years Systems Engineering experience supporting hardware and software integration, requirements development, verification and validation, and testing.
• Experience with traffic management systems design and implementation and a good knowledge of the general principles of electronic data processing, information technology, data analytics, AI/ML and network communications systems.
• Effective written and verbal communications skills with the ability to work both independently and in a virtual team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software products.
• Valid driver’s license and able to travel for site visits.
Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have:
• Experience working with departments of transportation clients.
• Project and leadership experience, and working in multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Experience with design / development tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio.
• Software design and development experience.
