JACQUET is an established market leader in the distribution of processed stainless steel and nickel alloys. JACQUET's service-oriented processing capabilities include Plasma, Laser, Water Jet, and Saw cutting in a wide range of stainless steel and nickel alloys in both plate and round bar. Our US Headquarters is located in Limerick, PA in a brand new 110,000 SF facility.
JACQUET provides service nationwide with four strategically placed operations in the USA; PA, Texas, Wisconsin and California to allow fast turnaround and delivery to our customers.
We are currently seeking a qualified Lathe Operator/Machinist to join our team. This position is on 1st shift which operates from 6am-2pm. Description:
The Lathe Operator/Machinist will calibrate and operate a manual lathe machine which is used to cut, sand, drill, face and turn metal.
Responsibilities:
• Operate CNC lathe in the machining of components.
• Measure workpieces and verify dimensions using proper tools.
• Be familiar with boring, drilling, reaming, threading and tapping operations.
• Maintain equipment in a safe working conditions and follow safety guidelines.
• Perform a daily check of equipment for condition and function.
• In the case of any equipment malfunction, inform the supervisor or person in charge.
• Be familiar with preparation of tools for machining.
• Mark materials and material locations properly.
• Assist in general housekeeping and clean-up tasks.
• Detect malfunctions, replacing worn tools, cleaning debris from machine.
• Use time, shop supplies, and materials efficiently.
• Perform other duties as assigned
• This includes having the flexibility to perform all tasks within the department.
• Expected to work safely and efficiently while meeting or exceeding quality expectations.
• Operate powered forklift trucks, hoists and other material handling equipment
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent Item
Minimum Previous Experience:
• 2-4 Years related experience in a Steel/Processing/Service Center preferred
• Experience running manual vertical turning lathes (Bullard, Webster Bennett) and horizontal engine lathes (Lublond).
• Experience machining Stainless and Nickle Alloys.
• Be able to read CAD drawings.
Minimum Additional Training:
• Possess a current license to operate a fork truck
• Perform necessary skills to perform the duties of the position
Other Skills:
- Occasionally bends and lifts up to 50 pounds individually
- Works in multiple positions during a shift
- Ability to stand for an 8 hour shift
- Must be able to wear safety glasses, steel toed shoes, hearing protection and any other necessary PPE.
- Ability to problem-solve.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure, deadline oriented environment.
- Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment.
- Ability to take direction and accept supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations
- Moves materials on blocks, skids or pallets to destination with appropriate system transactions and paperwork.
- Can operate an overhead crane.
- Proficient at multiple basic tasks and a few intermediate tasks
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and solve problems to complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and multitask.
Environmental Exposure:
- Routinely and regularly works near moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally exposed to hot conditions
- Occasionally exposed to non-toxic fumes
- Moderate noise level
- Occasionally exposed to oil, grease, gasoline, dust, metal particles and sharp edged materials
Pay Range: $20.00 hour depending upon experience
