Job Title: Fire Properties Engineer 3
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range:$74,000.00-$92,000.00
Summary
Performs analysis of engineering drawings and/or designs in order to determine the applicable test data required to comply with federal law. Plans, creates, and executes the identified testing and compiles the data into a completed report.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following with other duties as assigned:
- Conduct flammability testing for Bunsen Burn, Heat Release, Smoke density and toxicity in accordance with regulatory rules and procedures
- Maintains, repairs, and calibrates the flammability laboratory and equipment
- Review drawings and models provided by engineering
- Create test plans to document the proposed testing methodology that will be used in the certification of new products
- Design and create representative test articles based upon engineering drawings
- Compile completed test data into reports which are used to show compliance to the applicable federal laws and other requirements
- Work with engineering during the design process to ensure products will be compliant to the flammability requirements
- Conduct developmental tests for new and/or modified products
- Coordinate with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Designees on technical issues as necessary, including test witnessing and parts conformity inspection
- Applies in-depth knowledge and theoretical understanding in order to maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade flammability equipment.
- Guides and directs lower level personnel on the set-up and performance of tests
- Demonstrates an in depth knowledge of both regulations and FAA guidance in showing flammability compliance

Requirements
Education and/or Experience
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry and four to ten years relevant work experience (or an equivalent level of understanding typical of eight to twelve years of applicable engineering work experience in a related field)
Language Skill
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical and/or diagram form
