DESCRIPTION:
1. Successful experience in education, including teaching, supervision and /or building
administration. Building principal experience is preferred.
2. Graduate work beyond the Masters Degree with emphasis on curriculum, instruction,
supervision and administration.
3. A valid New York State Certificate as a School Building Leader or Administrator,
SBL/SAS and/or SDL/SDA.
4. Strong communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and human relation skills.
5. Administrative experiences in the areas of curriculum, instruction and staff development.
6. Experience effectively working with parents, teachers and administrators.
7. Philosophical compatibility with the stated mission and beliefs of the school district.
8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Is familiar with and contributes to the successful implementation of the District's Mission
and Belief statements;
- Contributes to, participates in, and manages school building planning and decision
making consistent with the District's Mission and Belief Statements.
- Cultivates and promotes a child-centered education with high expectations for equity inclusiveness and continuous improvement.
- Ensures a safe and healthy environment in the school that allows both children and adults
to put learning at the center of their daily activities.
- Provides systems of academic and social supports to meet the needs of students
consistent with best practices for middle level education.
- Engages families and the community in meaningful, reciprocal and beneficial ways to
promote each students' academic success and well-being.
- May be requested to attend Board of Education meetings and prepare building
instructional reports for the Board of Education as the Superintendent or Director of
Schools request.
- Delivers actionable feedback about professional practice through valid systems of
supervision and evaluation to support the development of teachers' and staff members'
knowledge, skills and practice.
- Manages the recruitment, selection and appointment of instructional and non-
instructional support personnel.
- Utilizes data and assessments to monitor student learning.
- Evaluates the performance of instructional and non-instructional support personnel.
- Assumes responsibility for the professional development of building instructional and
non-instructional support staff.Assists the principal in the supervision and evaluation of the performance of school personnel in accordance with the Districts adopted uniform guidelines for evaluation and assessment.
- Participates in the creation and management of the building's monetary and non-
monetary resources in cooperation with District Administration and at the direction and
supervision of the Chief Director of Schools.
- Develops and maintains data and communication systems for building and classroom
school improvement.
- Other duties as required by the Superintendent of Schools and the Chief Director of
Schools.
Final salary determination will be commensurate with the administrative education and experience of candidates.
