Position Summary: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing direct patient care including diagnostic, preventive, educational and therapeutic mental health services to children, adolescents and adults. The position provides professional expertise and participates in administration of a variety of therapeutic and training programs; also responsible for monitoring client services, ensuring services meet the needs of clients, and are being provided in accordance with best care practices, industry standards, organization guidelines, legal requirements and federal law.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Masters of Nursing degree in Psychiatric and Community Mental Health
• Licensure as Nurse Practitioner in the State of Alaska.
• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license with Prescriptive Authority for Advanced Practice Nurse;
• Completed the necessary supervised hours to obtain prescriptive authority;
• Current DEA number.
Additional Skills & Knowledge:
• Advance knowledge of individual, group, family and medication treatment modalities and their application to adults with mental health and substance use disorders.
• Ability to produce written documentation of clinical work in a timely manner.
• Ability to communicate program needs and services to community organizations and groups.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
