Job Title: Laborer

Reports To: Foreman

Employment Status: Full-time non-exempt (hourly)

Location: Greater Cincinnati-Dayton marketplace

Compensation: Salary determined by skills and experience in relation to the function of the role

Job Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking laborer to join our growing team. Our asphalt laborers are responsible for working within a crew on various construction projects throughout greater Cincinati-Dayton marketplace and expected to perform the job duties in a safe and professional manner. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the paving industry, but training is provided. Must have reliable transportation to various job sites in the area. The laborers will be responsible to get to various job sites throughout the area and must be willing to work on a crew assisting in construction actives.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

• Assist the team with any asphalt paving related work
• Shovel asphalt and other materials
• Luting / raking asphalt and aggregates
• Assist with loading and unloading of job site materials
• Handling of hot liquid asphalt and various materials
• Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates
• Operate various machines and equipment as per specifications
• Seal end joints
• Preparing the construction site and installation of pavement surfaces
• Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or cut-off saw
• Maintain neat and clean job site
• Ensure compliance to customer requirements and completed activities
• Inspect machines, equipment and assist with everyday maintenance
• Inspect and operate hand tools for various activities
• Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones
• Optimal traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers
• Maintain safety of company vehicles and ensured optimal utilization
• Attend and participate in job specific safety / huddle meetings as needed
• Observe and promote safety compliance

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Work Environment:

• Reliable transportation to various job sites in the area
• Ability to follow instruction
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with crew, leadership and clients
• Comprehensive understanding of safety procedures and policies
• Must be able to meet physical demands of the position; ability to lift up to 75 pounds, walking across uneven terrain, standing/working on feet for long periods
• Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
• Frequent exposure to loud noise
• Excellent vision or the use of prescription lenses
• Valid Driver’s license
• Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE), as required

Desired Skills & Qualifications (but not required):

• Previous construction experience and knowledge of asphalt paving
• Experience in operating small equipment and hand tools
• Evidence of working successfully with a team
• High school or equivalent education
• OSHA 10 Hour Certification
