ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Social Media and Content Specialist (SMCS) supports the coordination and guidance for the creative services, social media strategy and management responsibilities at Jamul Casino. The Social Media and Content Specialist creates, edits, publishes and curates digital content. SMCS also collaborates across departments to ensure consistent and interesting content that appeals to our target markets. Jamul Casino is a fun, fast-paced, and dynamic environment, and we need an achiever in this role who can create and coordinate multiple operational and branding deliverables that differentiate our casino from all others. To get there, we need this person to perform the following duties:


  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
  • Supports the efforts and projects of the Director of Advertising as requested.
  • Coordinates social media requirements for operational departments, promotions, special events, entertainment, and VIP parties.
  • Assists with content creation coordination such as scheduling video shoots, coordinating materials with category experts/talent, and managing job prioritization for Graphic Artist(s)/external agency.
  • Identifies content needs for property’s social needs such as photography, video needs, promotional and entertainment assets needed, operational materials, etc.
  • Develops and implements social media content and posting strategy consistent with operational goals in coordination with the Director of Advertising.
  • Passion for emerging social media platforms and staying up to date on social trends and relevant pop culture.
  • Bring fresh, exciting ideas and channel-specific approaches to the team that elevate existing initiatives as well as connecting the brand with important cultural moments and conversations.
  • Must have a positive attitude and the flexibility to work with several departments and personalities at all levels of the organization.
  • Should be a proactive self-starter who self-motivates to constantly challenge the status quo, identify opportunities, and champions them regularly.
  • Monitors all customer survey and social media feedback and responds in accordance with best practices as set forth by marketing or industry standards.
  • Utilizes measurement tools to quantify and grow social media presence.
  • Monitors website content, performs minor website maintenance, and provides input on content.
  • Develops, proofreads, and edits copy for adherence to brand standards and voice.
  • Assists in the budget process for the department by providing social media recommendations; supports compliance to departmental budget initiatives, reporting budget concerns to manager.
  • Supports and administers operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and profit objectives.
  • Assists with all marketing department initiatives as needed, including acting as an ambassador to the property, and assisting in promotional events.
  • Effectively adheres to purchasing policies.
  • Meets company appearance and grooming requirements.
  • Meets attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, department and company policies.
  • Keeps work areas clean and free of safety hazards, debris and litter.
  • Performs all job duties in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Performs other job related and compatible duties as assigned.
  • This position will require some evenings and weekends based upon the casino’ event schedule.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) in marketing, communications, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Gaming experience preferred but not required.
  • One to two years related experience and/or training.
  • Must have experience with social media tools and familiarity with art design programs. Website maintenance experience preferred but not required.
  • Proven history of elevating business social media accounts. Familiar with tracking, measuring, and reporting metrics on each platform.
  • Must be familiar with content management software.
  • Must be familiar with content management software such as Sprout Social or other similar tools.
  • Must have proven ability in copywriting and managing large-scale social media accounts.
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have technical proficiency and knowledge in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience with design software such as Canva, photoshop, or imovie preferred.
  • Must be highly skilled at photography and video with a mobile device.
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills; strong client interface and presentation skills preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain appropriate gaming license.
  • Minimum one year experience with paid social preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Must be able to efficiently and accurately count money and gaming chips and make a change. Possess the ability to operate an adding machine and have basic computer skills.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Team members must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.

Team member will be exposed to an environment containing unrestricted secondhand tobacco smoke.
