General Summary:
Supervises hourly staff providing custodial services to clients. Responsible for work force planning, QA training and administrative functions for designated area. Typical Knowledge and Skills of Entry level manager role. Typically receives more coaching/counseling from immediate supervisor and has less autonomy and opportunity for independent decision making in matters relating to operations. Typically has fewer direct reports.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in janitorial services
- Assigns janitorial work to employees, following material and work requirements
- Inspects work performed to ensure conformance to specifications and established standards
- Records personnel data per specified systems & forms
- Recommends personnel actions, such as hires and discharges, to ensure proper staffing
- Confers with staff to resolve production and personnel problems
- Trains workers in janitorial methods and procedures and proper operation of equipment.
- Issues janitorial supplies and equipment to workers to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
Scope of Responsibility:
Knows the formal and informal departmental goals, standards, policies and procedures which may include some familiarity of other departments within the organization. Is sensitive to the interrelationship of both people and functions within the department.

On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgement and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.
Authority:
May oversee or coordinate the work of others.
Communication:
Exchanges non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate requiring good oral and written communication skills.
Education:
Required: High School Diploma or GED, 2 - 4 years related experience.
Experience:
Five years of related experience required. Additional education may be substituted for years of work experience.
