Accountant Job Responsibilities:
Accountant maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; ensure legal requirements compliance.
Accountant/Bookkeeper Job Duties:
- Develops system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.
- Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
- Balances subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
- Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
- Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
- Maintains historical records by filing documents.
- Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Processing payroll and maintaining entitlements and employee records
- Record keeping
- Maintain account system for annual tax filing
- Perform Accounts Payable and Accounting Receivable duties
- Process payroll and sales taxes
- Process credit card payments
- Provide customer payoff
- Obtain waivers for payments issued
- Access computerized financial information to answer general questions as well as those related to specific accounts.
- Calculate and prepare checks for utilities, taxes, and other payments.
- Calculate costs of materials, overhead and other expenses, based on estimates, quotations and price lists.
- Calculate, prepare, and issue bills, invoices, account statements, and other financial statements according to established procedures.
- Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
- Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers.
- Compile statistical, financial, accounting or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.
- Complete and submit tax forms and returns, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms, and other government documents.
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Monitor status of loans and accounts to ensure that payments are up to date.
- Reconcile records of bank transactions.
