The Jasper County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs has full-time and part-time Direct Support Professional positions available, this includes floater positions that have no set schedule. You will be required to be available for all shifts which include weekends and holidays. Staff will be responsible for skills training, care and supervision of consumers to assist them with acquiring, retaining, and/or improving skills related to self help, activities of daily living, social and adaptive skills.
All applicants must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited school, be at least 18 years of age and have a valid SC Driver’s License with a good driving record, and have general computer experience.
Candidates must submit to a back ground check, drug screen, be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds, and have a desire to work with people with disabilities to help them reach their full potential.
Physical abilities may include but are not limited to: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, writing, reading, smelling, running, counting, some driving and some repetitive motions.
Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
