Summary:
To direct and manage the ICF and ensure people supported in the ICF are provided with qualitative, person-centered services. Direct and oversee all direct care and clinical staff and residential services and activities. Ensure implementation of guidelines prescribed by OPWDD to ensure regulations are being followed. Monitor and direct staff activity to ensure compliance with state and local contracts. Conducts in service programs and other actions needed to ensure staff is current on regulations, procedures, and changes in protocol as well as agency policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Is the team leader for the Interdisciplinary Planning Team Facilitates case conferences of the people supported, including completion of minutes and communication to key staff of assignments to be carried out as part of individual plans. Follows up to ensure tasks are carried out, utilizing a person-centered approach. Performs as liaison with other departments to advocate for consumer’s needs. Reviews goals quarterly of the people supported in the ICF to ensure objectives are being achieved. Elicits and maintains communication with families to obtain input and keep them informed or progress and problems.
- Plans, coordinates, and oversees the work of residence direct service, clinical, and support staff on all shifts to ensure all routines are scheduled and implemented as planned. Arranges and posts schedules, responds to questions and problems, etc., to ensure the smooth operation of the residence.
- Ensures implementation of guidelines prescribed by OPWDD and other oversight bodies to ensure regulations are being followed. Monitors and directs staff activity to ensure compliance with state and local contracts.
- Performs a broad range of management and supervisory functions, including hiring, orientation and training of new employees, processing of personnel records; completion of performance appraisals as well as the discipline and discharge or employees when indicated.
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of administrative and record-keeping functions, including maintaining timesheets and consumer billing procedures.
- Maintains permanent records related to individuals and consumer activities.
- Conducts in-service programs and other actions needed to ensure staff is current on regulations, procedures, and changes in protocol as well as agency policies and regulations.
- Will periodically make scheduled and unscheduled visits to the facility during non-office hours to ensure that services are being consistently carried out and that consumer safety is maintained.
- Conducts and oversees fire drills and evaluates staff response, making recommendations, documenting, and completing follow up, as necessary.
- Available for crisis and emergency events as they arise in the facility. Answers questions, notifies supervisor and/or Division Director of emergency events. Responsible for notifying parents, families, and advocates of situations as they arise. Is on call 24 hours a day for emergency purposes.
- Maintains records of all incidents; represents the residence at incident review committee meetings; conducts preliminary investigations of unexplained bruises/injuries.
- Supervises and participates in a broad program of quality assurance activities. Ensures departmental guidelines are being fully addressed and corrective actions taken as may be required.
- Periodically may assist with direct care functions as may be required.
- Serves on various agency committees, participating as called for or requested.
- May carry out broader management responsibilities in the absence of the Residential Director of Community Living Services.
- May fill in or participate in other activities, including writing of policies and procedures, orientation programs, etc.
- May perform incidental administrative or clerical procedures as part of overall operation of the facility, as may arise from time to time.
- Maintains safe, orderly work area and work practice.

What We Require:
- Associates Degree in Human Services field plus at least 3 years of experience in the OPWDD field, including management experience, OR Bachelor’s Degree plus one-year experience, including management experience.
- New York State Driver’s License required
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
