At JB Cutting, we're seeking a proactive and detail-oriented full-time Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic team. A procurement specialist is responsible for managing the acquisition of goods and services necessary for a company's operations.  Their primary role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that purchases are made at the best possible price and quality. A successful candidate will have prior experience in an office setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  

1. Sourcing Suppliers - Identifying potential suppliers for the goods or services needed by the company.  This involves researching and evaluating suppliers based on factors such as price, quality, reliability, and delivery times.


2. Negotiating Contracts - Negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and other contractual arrangements.  This may involve discussing discounts, volume pricing, and service level agreements.


3. Vendor Management - Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent and reliable delivery of goods and services.  This includes monitoring supplier performance and addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.


4. Purchase Order Processing - Creating and managing purchase orders to initiate the procurement process.  This involves verifying purchase requests, obtaining approvals, and coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.


5. Cost Analysis - Analyzing costs associated with purchasing activities to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.  This may involve conducting cost-benefit analyses, evaluating alternative suppliers, and implementing cost reduction strategies.


6. Inventory Management - Working closely with production team to maintain optimal levels of inventory while minimizing carrying costs and stock outs.  Collaborate with production and logistics team to ensure seamless coordination of material flow and inventory replenishment.

Procurement specialists should possess a diverse set of skills and competencies that enable them to effectively manage the procurement process and contribute to the organization’s success. Some key job skills needed for a procurement specialist include:


1. Analytical Skills - Ability to analyze data, market trends, and supplier performance to make informed decisions and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.


2. Negotiation Skills - Strong negotiation skills are essential for effectively bargaining with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, terms, and conditions.


3. Communication Skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for interacting with suppliers, colleagues, and managers to convey information, negotiate contracts, and resolve issues.


4. Organizational Skills - Procurement specialists must be highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.


5. Attention to Detail - Precision and attention to detail are critical to ensuring accuracy in contract terms, purchase orders, and other procurement documents.


6. Relationship Management – Strong interpersonal skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, colleagues, and managers involved in the procurement process.


7. Supply Chain Knowledge - Familiarity with supply chain management concepts and practices, including inventory management, logistics, and supplier relationship management.


 Soft Skills Required:

  

· Previous purchasing and inventory management experience. 

· Hi-lo experience/trained hi-lo operator.

· Must have efficient computer skills – we will train you in our ERP system, but you will need to be comfortable and experienced with Microsoft Office, navigating network drives, messaging software and Google Docs. 

  

Bonus if you have:


· Bachelor of Science in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business, or Finance.
