Controller - Assistant

JOB OBJECTIVE:Responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data for accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and the general ledger. The position calls for performing and directing month-end closings, ensuring that accounts are properly reconciled while highlighting inconsistencies or unusual transactions and the preparation and timely delivery of financial reports of the organization.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES: Performs and directs month end closePerforms regular internal auditsCoordinates the provision of information to external auditors for the annual auditOversees and manages the Accounts Payable functionsOversees and manages the Accounts Receivable functionsOversees the fixed asset process from expenditure request through capitalization of projectWorking with operations, prepares, analyzes and submits capital expenditure requests for approvalAssists Controller in the establishment of financial policies and proceduresOversees physical inventory processOversees and assures that company is SOX compliantReviews and approves customer credit limitsReviews and approves Vendor/Customer changesApproves ACH and wire transfers of moniesSupports and participates in Morgan Olson’s Continuous Improvement team efforts.Adheres to Quality policy by exceeding customer expectations, being customer focused and supporting continuous improvement activitiesAdheres to Safety policies and practices behavioral based safety 100% of the timeOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors’ degree in accounting with 5 years of practical experience. CPA is a plus.Knowledge of MRP systems and Bills of Material. Knowledge of Sales/Use and Property Taxes. Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley laws.Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as: Excel (Pivot Tables, v-lookup, sum ifs) Word and OutlookHigh degree of accuracy along with excellent problem solving /analytical skills.
