The BARTENDER'S essential purpose is to prepare and serve artisan craft cocktails, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages to restaurant guests. To conduct full fine dining service in adherence to the guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures of Rancho Bernardo Inn and JC. Resorts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • To conduct fine dining service in a professional and friendly manner in adherence to the Avant and Veranda Service Manuals.
  • To serve guests through a complex sequence of service in adherence to departmental guidelines and service manuals. This includes, but is not limited to: greeting guests, offering and serving bread, water, guiding guests through beverage offerings and wine list, guiding guests through food menu, accurately entering items in Micros, proactively upselling additional food and beverage options, clearing plates, silverware, and glassware, re-setting plates, silverware, and glassware, promptly collecting and accurately applying payments, wishing farewell to guests.
  • To work alongside and guide support staff in completing the sequence of service with tables and guests.
  • To be completely familiar with standard and classic cocktails and cocktail recipes, as well as make those drinks to the standards provided by Bar Manager/Mixologist. '

JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: High school diploma or equivalent required. English fluency required. Three years of bartending in a fine dining environment is required. Must know fundamentals of beverage mixing, inventory and pars, and glass types and uses, and have large drink recipe knowledge. Experience with Micros Point of Sale systems preferred. Current CPR certification preferred. Hotel experience preferred. A valid Food Handlers Card is required.

Courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable.

WORKING ENVIROMENT: Ability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, late nights, weekends and holidays, five shifts per week. Works indoors throughout shift in temperature-controlled, clean, and adequately lighted lounge area. Work areas may be crowded or noisy due to live entertainment. Bar may be moist, warm, and odorous from mixing drinks. Bar may be slippery from moisture and grease. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
