Position Summary:
Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, account reconciliation, as well as documenting and evaluating current procedures. Areas of focus may include general accounting, fixed assets, and trend analysis. Other duties include review and reconciliation of balance sheets and income statements. Demonstrates initiative in understanding process flows and controls. This position requires close coordination with the Controller, Accounting department, Operations, Gaming Commission Audit and External auditors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Gun Lake Casino’s Service Standards at all times.
- Maintain GAAP accrual general ledgers.
- Prepare and process monthly journal entries, produce schedules and analyze results, and communicate concerns to the Controller.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, which may include cash, prepaid, payables, accruals, construction in process or fixed assets. Prepares appropriate spreadsheet and verifies balances to computerized system reports.
- Assist with preparation of month-end financial statements, including preliminary review of financials for missing accruals and accurate coding for assigned departments.
- Assist with preparation of other reports provided to management.
- Assist with quarterly reviews and year end audit.
- Assists with quarterly and annual tax filings.
- Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time – quite often on short notice.
- Be cross-trained on other department functions to cover for vacations and emergencies. This may include inventory control or accounts payable.
- Assist in compliance responsibilities of the department to ensure the Casino remains in compliance with SICs and best business practices.
Essential Qualifications:
- Three (3) to five (5) years of Accounting/Financial experience or related degree preferred.
- Excellent PC and spreadsheet skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good decision making abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong technical accounting skills.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills. Detail oriented, innovative, flexible, task oriented, and can work independently with minimal direction.
- Prefer gaming experience.
- Must be flexible, able to handle multiple tasks, and establish priorities effectively.
- Must be able to obtain gaming work card for the jurisdiction in which the property is located.
- Flexible working hours and schedule required.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
- Must be able to sit for the duration of shift.
- Manual Dexterity to operate job related equipment.
Work Conditions:
Work is typically in an office environment, however, additional work areas may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain second hand smoke. Tasks may be performed from a sitting or non-sitting position in a confined area. Team Members may be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull and grasp. These tasks include the maintenance and care of assigned area. Requires interaction with fellow Team Members and Guests.
