Description
JDH is seeking a lawyer with business or corporate experience. The Staff Attorney is a vital part of the JDH’s in-house legal team devoted to advising and representing JDH. This position provides legal advice and counsel in support of business activities and transactions related to real estate transactions, commercial transactions, and corporate legal matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide general legal advice to all levels of JDH Staff.
- Draft, interpret, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements for JDH’s businesses.
- Manage and mitigate legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures.
- Leading corporate legal processes such as mergers and transactions.
- Communicating with in-house and external counsel.
- Advising stakeholders on risk and compliance matter.
- Consulting on general corporate law.
- Monitoring new relevant legislation.
- Drive a culture of safety, accountability, opportunistic curiosity and contributes to creating an environment where people want to work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- J.D. from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
- Member of the NE State Bar, or member in good standing of the State Bar of another state.
- Minimum 2 years of law firm experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; agricultural experience preferred.
- Familiarity with finance and merger/acquisition transactions.
- Willingness to personally perform and/or manage legal projects in a fast-paced, transactional practice.
- Excellent writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to represent the organization in external affairs.
- Strong experience working with internal operational partners is required.
- Ability to handle changing priorities and demonstrate sound judgement under stress.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other departments across all levels of the organization.
