We are looking for an experienced and motivated Construction Accountant to join our team. The Construction Accountant will assist the Controller with all aspects of the company's accounting operations and financial reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled accountant with construction industry experience who wants to join a dynamic and growing company.
Duties
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and WIP reports.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial records.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather financial data and resolve discrepancies.
- Review and interpret financial clauses in contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
- Act as backup or assist accounting staff as needed (lien waiver compliance, accounts payable, payroll, project/contract create in the accounting system, check runs, payroll creation or approval, and credit card coding and entry).
- Complete other tasks and projects as assigned.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required)
- Familiarity with wage and hour laws, as well as payroll regulations (non-union and union) is highly desired.
- Must execute professionalism, discretion, diplomacy, and possess sound decision-making skills.
- Must be proficient in Excel, working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines and to adapt toa fast-changing environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Proven experience in accounting, tax filings, and financial statement preparation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports
- Proficiency in using accounting software, such as Sage 300 CRE
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis
