JDM Golf owns and operates the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club and The Wigwam Golf Resort, two of Arizona’s premier golf properties.The Arizona Biltmore Golf Club is located in the shadow of the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Each property offers a unique challenge for golf enthusiasts to keep the game exciting. From the moment our golfers arrive to the time they leave, they will enjoy a variety of services including food and beverage.The current adobe-style building has been demolished to make way for the final stage of our exciting renovation project: The Clubhouse at Arizona Biltmore Golf Club.In the spring of 2024, the Clubhouse will become the new home of the Adobe Restaurant. We are looking for a Catering Sales Manager to join our Adobe management team.This is a unique hands-on opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the success of our business each and every day. The Catering Sales Manager purpose is to successfully negotiate, sell, execute, and implement all operational details of meetings, golf tournaments, weddings, receptions, events, banquets and in-house group functions and outings while providing excellent customer service and following all standards, policies, and procedures.
Supervision
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are essential to the employee’s position.
Sales and Business Development:
- In partnership with the Director of Clubhouse Operations, manage a strategic sales program designed to meet/exceed the AZ Biltmore Golf Club’s sales and revenues in the areas of weddings, banquets, and social events.
- Actively seek out and identify new business opportunities for catering services and events.
- Develop and maintain relationships with potential clients, including event planners, corporate clients, and individuals planning special events.
Client Consultation:
- Meet with clients to understand their specific catering/event needs and preferences.
- Provide information on available catering/event packages, menu options, equipment, pricing, floral, décor, etc.
- Customize proposals based on client requirements and budget constraints.
Proposal and Contract Management:
- Prepare detailed proposals and contracts outlining the scope of services, pricing, and terms and conditions.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with clients to ensure mutual satisfaction.
Event Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to plan and coordinate catering services for events.
- Work closely with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure the successful execution of the selected menus. This includes the ability to consult with the chefs to create menus that align with the preferences and dietary restrictions of clients and their attendees.
- Provide recommendations on vendors and maintain approved vendor list, ensuring certificates of insurance are provided.
- Integrates and executes the necessary elements of the plan with other managers, directors, and service staff.
Marketing and Promotion:
- Develop marketing strategies to promote catering services and attract new clients.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
- Maintain electronic master function calendar for club activities to ensure accuracy and avoid double bookings.
Financial Management:
- Achieve sales targets and revenue goals.
- Monitor and manage budgets related to catering/events to ensure profitability.
- Submit necessary invoices and documentation according to financial operational procedures and requirements.
- Complete catering/event P&L information.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly to ensure satisfaction. Escalating to Director of Clubhouse Operations and others, as necessary.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market demands.
- Adjust catering offerings and strategies based on market feedback and changes.
Administrative Items:
- Keep accurate records of sales, contracts, and client communications, electronically and/or hard copy, as necessary.
- Provide regular reports on sales performance and market trends to management.
Other:
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required
- Hotel/Restaurant Management College Degree preferred. High School Diploma required.
- 1 to 3 years minimum food and beverage management experience, preferably in a club or hotel setting. Previous experience in catering sales or management preferredd
Skills and Abilities
- Expertise in planning and cording events specific to the golf club environment.
- Familiarity with golf events, tournaments, and the social dynamics within a golf club.
- Knowledgeable about food and beverage for catering services and events.
- Strong sales and negotiation skills to effectively promote and sell catering services.
- Ability to develop and implement strategies that attract members and external clients to hold catering and events.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with members, clients, and internal staff.
- Ability to work under pressure including changing circumstance and last-minute requests.
- Be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Quick thinking and problem-solving to address issues that may arise during the planning process or the event itself.
Computer Skills
Required:
- Ability to use Point of Sale (POS) System
- Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to use employee self-service and supervisor role on company’s human resources/payroll database
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Required: Position may require travel within the Metropolitan area; thus, reliable transportation is required. If using a personal vehicle, must have appropriate driver’s license and insurance coverage.
Minimal travel to the conference may be required.
Unexpired Arizona food and liquor certifications.
Other
Regular attendance is required. Additional hours including weekends may be required on a regular basis to fulfill duties of position. At times, an individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.

Work Environment
This position primarily works both indoors and outdoors. At times, extreme temperatures may be part of the environment.
