SUMMARY Provide district wide leadership for instructional programs aligned with student achievement and growth and development objectives. Support and coordinate all Chief Academic Officer (CAO) functions and key initiatives including: Research and implementation of instructional best practices; effective teacher and principal staff development for early childhood, elementary, and secondary; improvement of student achievement at all grade levels in all content areas for all students; and compliance with all statutory requirements and policies related to instruction. Manage the collaboration of all CAO leaders, as well as leaders in other District departments, in service of seamless instructional support for all schools. Provide day-to- day management of projects and supervision of employees. This role interacts with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and levels in the organization including District cabinet.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct support to the CAO and CAO leadership to ensure staff within the department's supervisory authority are organized and implementing strategies that ensure that students, teachers, parents, and Ed Center staff have the resources, tools, and supports needed to engage in/deliver a culture of instructional excellence and extraordinary student experiences.
Promote a work environment that emphasizes District values and is outcomes-oriented and focused on instructional improvements and increased student achievement for every child.
Ensure that all staff within the department are working cohesively to successfully track, implement, and communicate high-quality key instructional programs that impact and support student learning.
Support all CAO leaders and staff in effective follow-through, progress monitoring, and continuous improvement in the areas of curriculum instruction; professional learning; and assessment and data usage to support school achievement efforts and program development.
Remain knowledgeable on and shape research and best practices regarding leadership and management, implementation of standards, learning, and student assessments.
Support the CAO and Deputy Superintendent in analyzing and defining areas of growth and creating innovative solutions, and strategic partnerships within and outside the district.
Lead the coordination and monitoring of department responsibilities related to the District's strategic plan, coordinating CAO staff (and working across district departments) to execute key initiatives designed to achieve strategic plan goals.
Build strong collaborative relationships throughout the organization to drive impact and to support the nimbleness of the department's approach to best respond to student needs.
Develop systems to effectively communicate within and across district departments as well as with external stakeholders.
Supervise and coordinate the work of Directors, Project Coordinators, Content Specialists, and other staff.
Manage the development, allocation, and monitoring of expenses in the professional learning budget in the Department for Professional Learning.
Participate in the Executive Director Team with the CAO and facilitate regular leadership meetings and agenda development.
Represent the District on local and state committees, the Department of Education, and other educational organizations and boards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in K-12 public education with at least 3 years in school based or central department leadership roles.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's Degree required plus additional course work required for certification or licensure . Master's degree preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Colorado Principal License or Colorado Type D Administrative Certificate, valid Colorado driver's license.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Ability to develop positive, collaborative relationships to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Strong facilitation/presentation skills to effectively design and lead adult professional learning. Strategic thinking skills to enable the development of strategy and action planning for results. Basic computer and word processing experience.
SPAN OF CONTROL Directly supervises approximately 20 employees in the Division of Teaching & Learning and is indirectly responsible for the performance of all Professional Learning employees. Positions supervised include Director, Secretary, Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), and Coordinator. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This position is responsible for both budget development and accountability.
