Job Summary
Reporting to the Nurse Manager, under the direction of the Coordinators or designee, the Surgical Tech - Certified functions as a member of the intraoperative healthcare team. He/she performs specific tasks to assist the surgical team and is competent to provide care for infants to geriatric patient population.
Essential Functions:
- Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make Abington – Jefferson Health (AJH) the hospital of choice for Patients and Employees.
- Participates in the intraoperative care of the patient to assist the surgical team.
- Helps maintain a safe, neat and clean environment to facilitate safe and effective patient care in the Operating Room.
- Provides assistance in maintaining supplies and equipment available to ensure efficient unit operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience: One year previous O.R. experience preferred.
Education & Training: Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technologist School.
License, Certification & Registration: Certification as a Surgical Technologist required.
Other Requirements: CPR certification.
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
