Quality Control Specialist
Job Summary:
The Quality Control Specialist performs inspections, test, and audits of incoming and outgoing goods to ensure the quality of all products and finished parts conform to company specifications.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conducts visual and dimensional tests and inspections to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Disassemble product parts to inspect them individually.
- Monitor production operations to ensure conformance to company specifications.
- Determines and uses appropriate inspection processes to confirm assigned products and parts meet specifications.
- Confirms and approves quality of finished parts.
- Determines whether parts not meeting specifications are quarantined and if can be salvaged.
- Prepares paperwork and reports documenting inspection findings and initiate corrective action with the appropriate party.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of inspection and measurement techniques and equipment.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, dimensional assembly drawings in metric, imperial and geometric tolerancing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel to prepare reports.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three years of experience as a quality control inspector preferred. ASME and AWS certificates.
- Knowledge / experience with ISO 9001, Lean Management and Six sigma.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, or sit for prolonged periods of time and utilize ladders, scissor lift and forklifts.
- Must be able to traverse production facility to conduct inspection.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unaided at a time.
