Job Summary

JEO’s Planning and Engagement team is adding a Community Planner to play a crucial role in guiding the development and growth of communities through strategic planning and collaboration with stakeholders. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to create sustainable and inclusive plans and engagement materials that address the unique needs of each community.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Community Planner will:

• Facilitate public meetings, workshops, and outreach programs to gather input from community members.
• Foster positive relationships with local residents, community leaders and other stakeholders.
• Conduct research on land use, zoning regulations, and other relevant factors to inform processes and planning decisions.
• Collaborate with Planning and Engagement staff, engineers, architects, and community stakeholders to develop comprehensive community plans.
• Manage and coordinate planning projects from conception to completion ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
• Work closely with clients to understand their vision and goals, providing expert guidance throughout the planning and/or engagement process.
• Analyze demographic, economic, and environmental data to inform decision-making and develop sustainable planning solutions.
• Stay informed about local, state, and federal regulations impacting land use, community development, and public involvement best practices.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, community development or related field.
• 3 years’ relevant experience in community planning or related field.
• Prior experience in the AEC industry
• Strong knowledge of urban planning principles, land use regulations, zoning codes, community engagement, and public involvement techniques.
