Position Summary
The Configuration Control Engineer provides support for Technical Operations by managing and controlling the configuration of the aircraft, engines, landing gear and related systems and components.
Essential Responsibilities
Define the Part Master configuration for repairable and rotable components in the TRAX Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) computer system in accordance with JetBlue Airways, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirements
Review configuration changes initiated by OEMs, Engineering Controls (ECs), service bulletins, and associated data in order to determine interchangeability/effectivity requirements, including the aircraft, engines, and data loadable aircraft components and software
Coordinate with Fleet Programs, Flight Operations, Material Services, Maintenance, and Quality groups to identify fleet evolution needs
Create Information Notices for configuration changes and ensure appropriate documentation (Aircraft Maintenance Manual, Illustrated Parts Catalog) and training is updated, including promoting awareness of part interchangeability/effectivity
Provide guidance and oversight to Material Planning and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) Material Services to enable them to update effectivity and the TRAX M&E system as part of their duties including expendables, consumables, repairables, and rotables
Support Entry Into Service and Retirements requirements for new aircraft types and used aircraft, including coordination with stakeholders outside of Tech Ops
Assist Engineers to set strategy for the evolution and standardization of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) to support major fleet modifications, minimize spare parts costs, and negotiate cost advantages from business partners
Maintains awareness of Extended Twin-Engine Operations (ETOPS) significant systems, assists the department to ensure ETOPS aircraft continue to meet requirements for configuration, maintenance, and procedures for extended range operations

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Three (3) years of Technical Operations experience with the ability to work with and understand aircraft maintenance manuals and maintenance programs
Technical knowledge of aircraft and engines, coordinating contracts, managing technical changes with business partners, collaborating with Engineering on Service Bulletins & Service Letters
Experience with Life Limited Parts, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Engines and/or Aircraft Configuration Management
Familiarity with aircraft systems and/or aircraft maintenance experience
Knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and Illustrated Parts Catalog
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
Familiarity of TRAX Maintenance & Engineering computer system
Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong analytical abilities
Able to interact with a wide range of customer groups both internal and external
Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations governing aircraft certification and maintenance
Available for occasional overnight travel (20%)
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Associate's degree in Engineering or Aircraft Maintenance
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate

Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is between $75,000.00 and $118,400.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
