What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gateway University Program position at JetBlue?
Position Overview
Gateway University creates a pathway for students at one of JetBlue's partner colleges/universities to apply for and, if successful, earn a conditional job offer that will allow them to join JetBlue as a First Officer once they have accrued the required flying time/experience. Students will apply to Gateway University when they have completed at least their Instrument Rating. The program is also open to recent graduates of partner schools who are currently working as flight instructors at a partner school.
This particular Gateway program will allow a successful applicant to come to JetBlue as a first officer after meeting all program and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements. At that time, candidates will go through the same orientation and six-week instruction that all first officers complete.

Gateway University essential training/experience-building framework includes:
- Graduate from the designated program at a partner college/university
- Serve as a certified flight instructor at partner school for at least 500 hours of dual given
- Employment at partner or 121 regional airline to meet program flight time requirements
- Meet all requirements of employment as a JetBlue Pilot Trainee
- New Hire Training as a JetBlue First Officer
- Must successfully complete the entire selection process, including application and interview
- Must be at a JetBlue partner school as a student with at least an instrument rating OR as a flight instructor
- Upon completion of program must have ability to meet all requirements in JetBlue’s Pilot Trainee requisition.
