SUMMARY

The Sr Manager, Master Data Management and Data Governance will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining robust data management practices across the organization. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of data governance, data quality, and master data management principles. The successful candidate will lead initiatives to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability, enabling informed data-driven decision making enterprise-wide.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Improve data quality through focused data governance programs and processes
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of strategies to ensure comprehensive data governance practices that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements
  • Established policies, standards, and procedures to ensure the effective management and use of data
  • Provides leadership and direction for the Data Governance team’s coordination with stakeholders across the front-line business units, functional groups, and technology to identify and define critical data including business, technical and operational metadata attributes
  • Ensures overall data quality within the data catalog, including identifying, monitoring, and prioritization of issues, as well as advising the US Data Governance team on remediation strategies
  • Implements strategies and mechanisms, including KRIs and KPIs to monitor ongoing adoption of and effectiveness of data policies, standards, procedures, and controls, as well as effectively creates accountability with those who fail to maintain compliance
  • Identify and address data quality issues through root cause analysis and proactive measures
  • Ensures risks, issues and decisions are escalated to data governance councils and forums with timeliness and transparency
  • Identifies and executes opportunities to enhance tools and processes to drive organizational accountability for data and advance data governance, AI governance and data ethics maturity
  • Partners with all front-line business units and functional groups by translating data governance, AI governance and data ethics requirements into actionable business-as-usual processes with centralized oversight, enabling governed data and harmonized data governance practices
  • Supports all internal (e.g., internal audit, control testing, second-line maturity scorecard assessments) and external regulatory reviews and manages deliverables resulting from review findings
  • Lead development strategy of customer-based 360 view (single source of truth)
  • Define relationships, data models, and data structures required for fully integrated customer data
  • Understand business processes and procedures that impact customer data in order to maintain data integrity and quality
  • Consider all requirements needed to meet the reporting, AI, and analytical goals desired by the various business areas
  • Partner with IT to develop automated solutions around customer entry points and overall duplicate management
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure that data engineers, data architects, data scientist and other relevant data resources understand strategy, solution design, development, delivery and operation goals
  • Integrate and maximize leverage of digital technologies into the data management strategy including Automation, advanced analytics, micro-services, etc.

Leadership Responsibilities

Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Data Science, Business, or a related field required, MBA preferred
  • 5 – 7 years of related experience in data governance and/or data management in complex corporate environments required; including MDM design, development, support and operations using MDM suite of tools
  • 3 years of managerial experience required; including a demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional development team and confidence collaborating with all levels of management and facilitating meetings
  • Experience with relevant tools and technologies in the data management space
  • Self-directed and self-driven with strong analytical, logical, reasoning, and critical thinking skills
  • Experienced in rapidly changing environments and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a demanding environment with diligence and accuracy
  • Able to operate at both strategic and tactical levels, with the ability to make complex concepts simple and make data-driven decisions
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to take complex concepts and articulate based on audience
  • Ability to break down barriers and build consensus among project team members
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively guide, motivate and inspire team towards common goals
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to multi-task, prioritize and quickly adjust to new situations/assignments and meet deliverable deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with insurance data preferred
  • Knowledge about SAP ERP and SAP MDG preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls; and talk or hear.
