JCC Ranch Camp is the Denver JCC’s Residential Camp serving campers entering 2nd through 11th grade. Individuals of all backgrounds, faiths, and families are welcome.

Ranch Camp Cooks have one of the most important and integral jobs at summer camp: assuring everyone receives a meal. They are responsible cooking all the meals at camp, assisting with kitchen clean up, and keeping all meals and the kitchen kosher. Our ideal candidate is familiar with kosher laws and adapting meals for different allergens. They also cook during our shoulder season for retreats and rentals.
All our staff work in tandem with Camp’s Supervisory Team to ensure the positive resolution of any and all camper, counselor, and parent issues that may arise.
Roles and Responsibilities

Prepare and cook all camp meals safely - which includes using a stovetop, gas grill, broiler, and convection oven

Help to ensure cleanliness of kitchen and compliance with local Health Department regulations

Assist in organizing and inventory of food deliveries

Be aware of allergy information and ensure separation of allergens per camp policy and kitchen manager directives

Flexible with the ability to shift in role as needed

Participate in camp programming when possible and provide food for programming when required

Clean up area to ensure compliance with local health department and licensing requirements

Ensure kashrut is maintained in both prep and cooking of meals

Perform other related duties as assigned by Camp Supervisory Team.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
Physical Demands: This job requires the incumbent to have operative auditory and visual functioning. Employee must also be able to walk upwards of two (2) miles each day, including use of stairs and uneven terrain. Employee may also stand, sit in chairs or on the ground, run, and swim. Employee may lift or body block campers when necessary.
Work Environment: Working conditions may include being in indoor, often time’s loud spaces and spending extended time outdoors under the sun. Must have the ability to work in a hectic, sometimes stressful environment while maintaining the standard of care.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements
Basic Qualifications

Two years kitchen experience or culinary degree, degree in progress

Strong understanding of dietary needs and allergies

Satisfactorily fulfill requirements for employment at the Staenberg-Loup JCC, including: background screening, three references, documentation, and compliance with CDHS law.

Must be high-energy, enthusiastic, creative, and open-minded!
Preferred Qualifications

ServSafe certification

Strong understanding of kosher laws

Culinary degree or equivalent experience
