Jewish Family & Children's Service is seeking a full-time Institutional Giving Officer to join a vibrant Institutional Advancement team and play a critical role in furthering our mission of providing exceptional human services, guided by Jewish traditions of social responsibility, compassion, and respect for all members of the community.
The Institutional Giving Officer is a key member of the JF&CS Institutional Advancement Team and will have responsibility for securing gifts from a portfolio of donors that includes foundations and corporations. In addition, the Institutional Giving Officer works closely with development colleagues, organizational leadership, and program staff to achieve the goals of the philanthropy program in support of JF&CS programs and services. The ideal candidate enjoys the dynamics of a fast-paced organization, a collaborative environment, and is looking for a position where their work will provide an opportunity to "do good" in the world as part of a high-impact organization providing direct services in the areas of mental health, economic insecurity, Holocaust survivor services, services for older adults, services for people with disabilities, and services for young families.
Reports to: Director, Foundation Relations
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations include the following:
- Cultivate and solicit an assigned portfolio of institutional donors, assuming primary responsibility for stewardship and retention.
- Secure proposal invitations from current donors and new prospects in support of JF&CS's strategic priorities.
- Write and edit persuasive requests for funding and other materials designed for institutional audiences, such as reports, supporting documents, and informal updates.
- Plan and implement site visits, donor calls, and other cultivation activities designed for institutional donors and prospects.
- In collaboration with the Director of Foundation Relations, engage senior leadership and program staff in developing proposals and attending meetings with foundation leadership.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of priority areas and initiatives within JF&CS and maintain collaborative relationships with relevant program staff. Maintain knowledge of institutional funding and other philanthropic trends.
- As needed, develop proposals and reports for donors not in portfolio, provide input to team strategy, and complete other related tasks in order to achieve team goals.
- Research new prospects aligned with JF&CS priorities.
- In coordination with the JF&CS Volunteer Manager, plan out volunteer opportunities to match the interests of corporate funders and prospects to bring them closer to JF&CS and create openings for revenue asks.
- Coordinate with Operations and Finance staff on grant accounting, grant agreements and acknowledgements, accurate record keeping, and timely financial reporting.
- Maintain active prospect management system in Raiser's Edge.
- Meet annual targets for donor and prospect visits, solicitations, and revenue.

- Possesses strong organizational, problem-solving, and planning skills; attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work within an organization emphasizing teamwork, respect, and excellence
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of donor data management best practices; Raiser's Edge experience desirable
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree
- 4-5 years of development or related experience required.
- Experience with direct donor contact and grant requests preferred.
