Position
what you’ll do

The Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist/Consultant will use a relationship-based model
to provide parent-child mental health services in Oakland and throughout Alameda County.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, the specialist will work closely with a child development
specialist and family partner to conduct observations and therapy in the child’s home,
preschool, or at the JFCS East Bay offices. We are seeking someone who is passionate about
providing treatment to children and their families with respect and an ongoing commitment
to cultural humility.

Reports to: Director of Parenting & Youth Services
Employment Type: Exempt; Full-time
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Berkeley, CA office, in the field, and remote as needed

Parent-Child Therapy:
• Observe, assess/diagnose and treat children and families in their natural environments.
  • Provide dyadic work with infants, toddlers, and their primary caregivers.
  • Provide some case management, consultation to childcare providers, and crisis intervention
services.
  • Complete paperwork and documentation on computerized client management system.
Conduct chart reviews and auditing.
  • Attend supervision and team meetings.
Consultation in Preschools:
• Provide consultation to teachers regarding general child development and social and
emotional needs of preschoolers.
  • Provide consultation to teachers regarding specific children and behaviors. Observe children
and develop strategies for parents and staff to promote optimal development.
  • Participate in staff meetings and facilitate workshops for teachers.
  • Conduct parent workshops and parent groups.
  • Provide resources and referrals when appropriate.
Other Duties: Work on additional projects and perform other duties as assigned.

The salary for this position starts at $60,000 per year, depending
on experience. Supervision in Spanish is available.
