About the position:
The Senior Manager will be a member of a dynamic JFF team working to fundamentally change existing systems and re-imagine new ways for people to advance economically with a focus on equity. The Senior Manager will be assigned to the newly established Strategy, Growth, Impact, and Innovation unit (SG2I), reporting to the Director of Organizational Strategy but will be deployed on work that leverages their skillset across the breadth of JFF’s units, programs, and projects.
Specifically, the Senior Manager will be responsible for supporting and executing JFF’s efforts around quantifying and articulating our impact across the field – including refining existing frameworks and models, defining key output and outcome indicators/metrics, driving the implementation of the framework in how JFF works across multiple program teams, and informing the technical requirements for engraining a more data-driven impact culture and practice at JFF. Importantly, since so many of the impacts JFF works to achieve are targeted at people and communities that have faced barriers to equitable economic advancement, the Senior Manager will help research and inform how we can best collect and disaggregate impact indicators by race, gender, age, income, and other distinguishers, as well as best practices on how we can other equity indicators that speak to adoption of inclusive processes (such as involving stakeholders in program design) or implementation of policies and practices that improve diversity and equity.
What you'll do:
Impact Strategy & Analysis
- Support refinement of a JFF impact framework and strategy, tied to overarching organizational priorities, that will enable JFF to better monitor and report on progress towards goals and intended outcomes
- Draw on leading practices and learnings from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors on how to best quantify and report impact
- Working with a core team, refine a list of priority impact indicators to guide JFF’s impact on people, places, and systems, across multiple strategic areas of focus – with an emphasis on equity
- Support evaluation of external vendors and technology platforms and internal capacities for data collection and analysis for impact measurement and reporting
Organizational Implementation
- Activate, support and inform efforts of teams across JFF to define, track, collect, and store key impact measurement data
- Design and build the implementation and execution strategy and playbook, defining methods, processes, and “how to” guides for teams to use the new Impact Framework and tools (e.g., templates, data sharing agreements, and standardized protocols and guidelines), from vetting opportunities, to developing initiatives and proposals, to executing contracts with partners and sites.
- Provide training, coaching, and other support to teams as they transition to implementing new impact measurement tools, systems, and processes.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in JFF’s data team who will build the necessary data infrastructure and processes to support ongoing impact measurement
Communication
- Prepare and present a variety of deliverables such as memos, reports, tools, case studies, and talking points to JFF leadership and external partners & funders to demonstrate our impact
- Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues regarding activities and progress of efforts
- Synthesize and share relevant findings with a wide range of audiences
Project Management
- Manage timelines, workflow, communications, production of deliverables, and other aspects of project implementation
- Partner and collaborate across the organization with project leaders to monitor and evaluate project plans, tasks, resources, deadlines, and any post-project needs to accomplish project goals
Who you are:
- You have at least 4-6 years of experience, preferably working in an impact-focused role or organization, with a substantial part of your experience focused on defining how to measure and demonstrate impact, both qualitatively and quantitatively (note: your experience does not have to be focused on the nonprofit sector; applicants from across the private/public/nonprofit sectors are encouraged to apply, and/or those from impact investing, foundation, or grant-making backgrounds)
- You are a strong project manager with a proven track record of leading large, complex projects that include deliverables for several constituencies at once
- You are comfortable aggregating and analyzing data, and producing both quantitative and qualitative insights as result of your analysis in various presentation media (e.g., talking points, presentations, memos)
- You are committed to supporting learning and incorporating a strong customer service orientation to help busy project teams incorporate new practices into their routines
- You are creative, resourceful, and flexible; you enjoy jumping into new projects and know how to build subject matter expertise and credibility quickly
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can seamlessly pivot between being an individual contributor and working in close collaboration with others
- You possess high energy and passion for JFF’s mission and an ability to apply JFF’s core values to all areas of your work
