SUMMARY:
The RISE Housing/Workforce Development Coordinator works directly with refugees and their Case Managers by providing direct support in the coordination of Housing and consequent moves and Work Force Development. This position will be responsible for identifying available and affordable rentals, coordinating moves and managing donations and efficient use of our storage unit. S/he/they will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with business contacts statewide to offer jobs to qualified Refugee candidates. This will include assisting the candidates to be job ready, running groups and working with individuals as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate efforts to provide safe and affordable housing options for RISE individuals and families. assist refugee clients in their search for permanent housing. Accompany clients to apartment viewings and lease signings.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with property management, real estate companies and landlords. Oversee and negotiate the rental application process for our RISE Clients.
  • Establish relationships in the community and demonstrate full knowledge of rates, properties available and/or those properties that may be available ongoing. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private companies to create partnerships that identify and track available, affordable housing and coordinate with contacts to ensure a solid list of potential jobs for qualified candidates.
  • Coordinate moves for families with the RISE team including volunteers when available. dEducate the Renters on proper treatment and proper care for the property they rent. Educate the Renters in appropriate Landlord/tenant expectations to help them become self-sufficient and understand what their responsibility is and what is the property owners responsibility.
  • Maintain a spreadsheet with current landlord and property manager information and manage outreach and establish relationships with new contacts in all three counties in Delaware.
  • Negotiate with moving companies to keep moving costs down. Identify people in the community who are willing to help with set ups and moves as volunteers.
  • Agree on metrics and provide reports on successes and areas for improvement after each move.
  • Coordinates the move of donated items to the refugee clients
  • Tracks and manages the inventory in the storage unit.
  • Delivers smaller packages and donations to refugee clients.
  • Develop and present a series of group workshops for Refugees on how to write a resume, how to look for and apply for jobs and provide practice interviews and when necessary, assessment of job skills.
  • Maintain a database of open positions statewide and a record of jobs places.
  • Provide follow-up post-hire at 10 days, 30 days and 90 days for employer and employee.
  • Documents all progress on Insynch.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirement:

  • Highschool degree or GED. Some college preferred.
  • Real Estate License in Delaware preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience with various client populations.
  • Knowledge of Delaware Real Estate in all three counties.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate fees and contracts.
  • Experience with refugees/ disenfranchised populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Problem solving, analytical, communication and crisis management skills are necessary to assist clients in navigating the rental process.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
