General Description of FOIA Analyst III Role:
- Support preparing responses to requests for records and information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) / Privacy Act (PA) as mandated by federal statutes and departmental/ agency directives.
- Must pass a Background Investigation for a Secret But Unclassified (SBU) security clearance.
- Position is located on-site in Arlington, VA.
- Position is contingent on contract award.
Job Duties
- Review incoming FOIA/PA requests to ensure all requisite forms are completed by requesters.
- Search, identify, collect, and organize records, which include SBU information under the Agency’s control, or generated or maintained, by the respective program offices.
- Scan FOIA support documents related to cases assigned into the FOIAXpress database.
- Initiate required checks in legal databases and the FOIAXpress tracking system.
- Conduct analyses of the information within the scope of the request and evaluate the data for public disclosure.
- Provide FOIA/PA review and process pending, complex FOIA cases.
- Redact documents in accordance with agency/entity FOIA protocols, which include annotating applicable FOIA exemptions.
- Maintain complete and detailed case notes on all assigned cases.
- Process FOIA/PA referral/consultation documents and letters received from other government agencies.
- Process submitter notices associated with specific FOIA cases and provide initial analysis of submitter objections.
- Prepare documentation for, and draft responses to, FOIA/PA requests, coordinating proposed disclosures of information for several entities within the agency.
- Support agency litigation efforts.
- Responsible for properly protecting all Agency information within his/her control.
Knowledge, Skill, Experience, and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- A minimum of FIVE years of FOIA Analyst experience. Experience providing FOIA/PA review and process pending, complex FOIA cases is preferred.
- Proficiency with FOIAXpress
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of legal research tools to include experience performing legal research using various databases as well as utilizing legal analysis to recommend course of action.
- Experience with a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Office, databases, and telecommunications to support research and correspondence preparation.
- Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under pressure, to include meeting deadlines and maintaining a high-level of productivity without sacrificing accuracy.

Pay: $72,925.00 - $153,539.00 per year
